Root Canals
Comfortable, state-of-the-art root canal therapy
When there is infection or inflammation in a tooth root, a root canal might be needed to remove the pulp inside the root and replace it with biocompatible material. Often, a porcelain crown will need to be placed over the tooth to protect it and restore the tooth to full function.
Typical symptoms of inflammation or infection in a root canal include pain when chewing or biting, pimples on the gum or an abscess. Dr. Alegre will assess your tooth and let you know if a root canal is needed, or other treatment.
Accurate Diagnosis
Dr. Alegre uses a dental CT scanner to obtain 3D images of the problematic tooth. This shows him how deep the tooth decay is and if it’s already invaded the pulp chamber of the tooth. It also shows how many tunnels there are in each tooth and if they join.
Efficient treatment
The images from the 3D scanner allow Dr. Alegre to plan the treatment so that he doesn’t have to do exploratory work during the actual root canal therapy.
Provided there isn’t a lot of active infection in the tooth, Dr. Alegre can typically complete root canal therapy in one visit.
Keeping you comfortable
Many people equate root canal therapy with a lot of discomfort or even pain. With modern technology your root canal can be a comfortable process. Dr. Alegre makes his patients very comfortable, to the point that most of them fall asleep during the procedure!
